Create a Perfect-Fit Book Cover
Before printing with POTHSARA, use this Cover Design Guide to make sure your cover file is the exact right size. This will help prevent cutting, alignment, or text issues at the print shop.
How to Use This Tool
Step 1: Enter Your Book Details
Type your total Page Count into the box. Since we use 70gsm paper, the spine thickness is calculated automatically using the following formula:
Spine Thickness = Pages × 0.1mm
Step 2: Preview Your Cover Layout
The preview shows your book cover opened flat:
- Left: Back Cover
- Center: Spine – width changes based on your page count
- Right: Front Cover
Check the “Show Barcode” option to see exactly where the barcode and ISBN will be placed on the back cover.
Step 3: Follow the Guide Lines
Turn on “Show Guides” to display the cover design guidelines.
- Red Line – Trim Line: This indicates where the book will be cut.
- Blue Line – Bleed Line: Your background design must extend to this line.
- Green Line – Safe Zone: Keep all important text, logos, and other essential elements inside this line.
Step 4: Download and Send to Your Designer
Click the “Download PNG” button to save the cover layout image. Send the downloaded image to your cover designer so they can use the exact measurements to create your print-ready cover file.
Important
Final design files must include a 3mm bleed on all sides. If your spine is less than 10mm, it may be too thin for text.
Design Settings
■ Blue (Bleed): Extend background graphics to here.
■ Red (Trim): Final cut size of the book.
■ Green (Safe): Keep all important text inside this area.
